HMPV; The new pandemic?

Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) is a hot topic in the health and medical field. Most cases are mild, but young children, adults over 65, and people with weaker immune systems are more prone to the disease.

Will it cause a pandemic?

Researchers and experts say no. HMPV is not a new threat or virus; it has been around for decades, which means there is a lot of immunity against it. It's more like a seasonal flu outbreak-- preventive measures like wearing masks can help control the spread of this disease.

It is also not a very severe illness ( in most cases), and it doesn't spread quickly either. All in all, it does not seem like a threat currently, and even if it becomes more contagious, it can be managed well due to experience with COVID-19.  Stay safe and stay healthy!

  1. It might be contained well due to experience with the pandemic but still the fear exists

  2. That is very much true, but I just wanted to reassure everyone here that there is not much to be worried about
